I confess, this right here is why I decided to move up to seven days a week. I always like forward momentum with the main “Oh Goodie!” story, which doesn’t leave much room for dicking around and having fun. A regular full-page Sunday strip solves this issue. So Sundays are going to be dedicated to full page stuff you wouldn’t normally see in a regular horizontal strip, and Trifectica is one of them.
I had the idea for this when pondering what I call “The Geek Trifecta”, which to me is Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Battlestar Galactica. And the day I was pondering this I thought “What if you combined aspects of all three and made it REALLY silly?”. Thus Trifectica was born. It’d be a combination of everything that is ridiculous and awesome about sci-fi serials from the 60’s and 70’s, with their unrealistic expectations of the future, cheesy sets, and casual sexism.
I dunno how long I’ll be running with it, but you’ll see more coming over the next few Sundays.
