I’ve been kind of on a kick (excuse the phrase) concerning classic drum machines and samplers, and the Fairlight is one of the kings. Since I’ve sparked my interest, I’ve been delighted to discover there are several apps that emulate these old emulators. It’s also a bit surreal that old 8-bit tech that was considered the recording standard twenty or thirty years ago is now downloadable for $10 via iTunes.
I also love that a fellow 80’s pop geek recorded an EP using samples from the original Fairlight. An 80’s pop geek named Com Truise, who I’m sure some of you are more familiar with than I. Check out the EP in its entirety below.
