I’ve written about this once or twice before, but I love Judy Garland’s voice. It was such an expressive instrument that the world will never have again. You could feel the woman’s entire lifetime of heartbreak in every song she sang, but it was absolutely beautiful and made you appreciate the melancholy of life.
As I’ve gotten older, I hate the idea that music defines or informs who you are. A big thing I’ve tried to write about this week is how you can be surprised and delighted if you just take the time to look, so it doesn’t make sense to be a music snob. There’s a big buffet in front of you. Eat from it some time.
