So, this is totally true: developers in Portland are suddenly building tons of new apartment complexes, and (as I’ve probably mentioned) I recently moved into one with my girlfriend. It’s a really nice place, but everyone has taken it upon themselves to remind me of what USED to be there: a coffee house called “The Spunky Monkey”. So I tell people where I live, and they all say “The Spunky Monkey used to be there! I really miss that place! Aw, your stupid apartment developer! Why’d they have to build there?”
Story of my life. I seem to eternally show up somewhere in Portland, and everyone gets in my face about the super cool thing that USED to be there…
