The Junk amp is inspired by a series of different amplifiers. It has the grille of the Vox AC30 of course, but mostly it’s inspired by the Supro Dual Tone, a 1×12 combo that Jimmy Page famously used on most Led Zeppelin recordings (contrary to the Marshalls he was seen with on stage). The Supro was only 20 watts so it overdrived rather easily when just increasing the volume, making it perfect for a studio situation. What I find unique about the amp was that it only had one EQ knob famously labeled “tone”. Makes things simple, doesn’t it?
