Google “Gay Actors Who Play Straight” some time. It’s frankly amazing the number of articles on the subject, and I get spammed with them all the time on Facebook. Just like how the Academy Awards seems easily impressed if you play gay when you’re not, I’m guessing people are easily impressed that a gay actor can play a straight character…even though they’re an ACTOR and that’s their JOB to pretend they’re something they’re not.
It’s like that skit in “Extras” where Ian MacKellan is all impressed with himself for just pretending to be a wizard in “Lord of the Rings”.
